Idaho Press Reports that Apolo Ohno, the most decorated American Winter Olympian is beginning his newest athletic endeavor this weekend at the Ironman 70.3 Boise. The short track speed skating legend will compete in Saturday’s Boise race, the Got Chocolate Milk campaign.

Ohno announced his intention to begin training for triathlons in April, with the goal of competing in the 140.6-mile Ironman World Championship in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. The Boise race will be his first triathlon in a series of events to prepare him for the Hawaii race. “I am going to struggle with this thing,” Speaking about the Hawaii ironman Ohno says. “I am four years retired from my sport. Looking at the IRONMAN—I have to put myself out there. You can’t hide. The minute you slow down, it shows. I am going completely out of my comfort zone, trying something completely different.”

If you are looking for something to do this Saturday, consider going to watch the triathlon! Check out this page to see the course path to find a good spot to watch from. We would recommend watching from Lucky Peak Dam, as it’s a beautiful place to hang out with the family and you should be able to watch most of the triathlon from one spot, or If you’d like to watch the racers finish, the end of the triathlon will be at the Julie Davis Park, which is also a great place for a BBQ or picnic!
