Keeping the cooking area clean and well cared for will keep appliances maintained and make using your equipment more enjoyable. There are some recommended steps for how to clean Viking grates, griddles, and burners. Recommended cleaner for Viking range will keep your equipment at its best. Let’s get to business.
Cleaner for Viking Range Components
Viking Range Cleaner
The best way to clean stainless steel components of a Viking range is with hot soapy water and a soft microfiber cloth. Wiping in the direction of the brushed finish is most effective. For stubborn smudges and fingerprints, use a stainless steel cleaner to get things clean, and follow up with stainless steel polish for best results. Cleaner and polish should not be used daily, however. Using cleaner and polish every few weeks should be adequate to maintain optimum appearance of the stainless steel finish.
For glass and ceramic finishes, use a glass ceramic cleaning cream. After allowing the surface to cool, apply the cleaning cream to the soiled area using a damp paper towel. Continue wiping until all remaining grime and cleaning residue are removed. For heavily soiled areas, carefully use a scraper to scrape off stuck on food, followed by application of the cleaning cream. Frequent cleaning is essential to glass and ceramic cooktops. Proper maintenance using glass ceramic cleaning cream leaves a protective coating that prevents scratches and surface damage to your equipment.
How to Clean Viking Griddles
Viking griddles are easy to clean and maintain. You don’t need to wash your griddle every time you use it, though. For light usage, just wipe down the surface of the griddle with a clean cloth or paper towel. The oils from cooking the food will naturally season the griddle. After heavy cooking is done and the griddle is still warm, follow these steps:
- Pour room temperature club soda directly on the griddle.
- Using a metal spatula, pull oils and food particles toward the grease trough.
- Remove the trough, dispose of grease and debris, and wash with hot soapy water.
- Wipe entire surface with a paper towel.
- Finish by seasoning the griddle with a light coat of vegetable oil, then wipe once more with a paper towel.
Keeping your griddle well seasoned prevents surface rust and ensures your griddle stays in top condition and ready for use. If your griddle hasn’t been used for awhile, re-season it. The griddle should be seasoned each time it is washed.
How to Clean Viking Grates
The best cleaner for Viking range grates is soap. Place the grates in a sink full of hot, soapy water and let soak for 15-20 minutes. For tougher stains, you might add a cup of sudsy ammonia to the water. Make sure grates are thoroughly dried after each cleaning. After cleaning, Viking recommends lightly coating the bottom of the grates with cooking spray and then blotting them dry.
How to Clean Burners on Viking Stove
The easiest way to clean burners on a Viking stove is with a mix of Bar Keeper’s Friend and water. Using the Bar Keeper’s Friend, add water to make a paste- you can let this sit on the burners for up to 30 minutes for heavily soiled areas. Scrub clean with a green 3M® pad. Finally, wipe clean and dry thoroughly. This is effective for most stains, including rust. However, to avoid needing this level of cleaning, it is always best to wipe clean all cooking areas, using hot soapy water if necessary, after each use.
