What’s on tap for 2015?
We’re all looking forward to 2015. It’s going to be a great year! Here are some interesting facts and trivia related to 2015 or MMXV as the Romans would have said.
Did you know that 2015 has been proclaimed the International Year of Light?
And of course, as we all know, 2015 is the 200th Anniversary of The Battle of Waterloo.
Fought near Waterloo on June 18th, 1815 in what is today Belgium (then part of the Netherlands), Napoleon’s French Army was defeated by a coalition of Anglo troops commanded by the Duke of Wellington, and a Prussian army under the command of Gebhard von Blücher.
I was surprised to find out that Lithuania has become the latest country to adopt the Euro as their official currency as of Jan. 1, 2015. However, Great Britain is still on the Pound Sterling currency. It seems the Brits are still interested in re-establishing the British Empire. After all, the Brits did win The Battle of Waterloo…let’s see, wasn’t that 200 years ago?
The most interesting date in 2015 is going to be – 05/15/2015.
In Back to the Future Part II (1989): Dr. Emmett Brown, Marty McFly and Jennifer Parker time travel to October 21 of 2015 (the latest date in the Back to the Future Trilogy). Lawyers are abolished, automated clothing is in vogue and people travel in flying cars and on hoverboards. I can hardly wait to get my hoverboard. Holding off on buying a flying car, until Toyota can come up with a fix for the accelerator getting stuck. Seems to be a problem in the flux capacitor.

Now we’re beginning to reach a bit. According to Wikipedia there will be 53 weeks (?), 52 Sundays, and 11 Federal Holidays (5 on Monday) in 2015. Not to mention 150 million births worldwide.
Otherwise, anything exciting in 2015 is going to have to be done by one of us. Since I’m occupied with this blog, you’d better get going. Have a great…and busy 2015!
